PANTOVID PROJECT

Goal: Development of sustainable face shields using injection moulding to tackle the COVID-19 global health crisis.

This project came from the current caused by COVID-19 to respond to the lack of PPE measures, the need to seek alternatives to face masks and to promote the development of more sustainable healthcare material, providing a solution to problems around the poor management of these types of waste. Bearing this in mind, the project set out to develop a face shield made of biodegradable and/or bio-based polymers that allow enhanced breathability and, as a result, more ergonomic use. Additionally, the face shield allows more people to protect themselves from microdroplets containing viral load.
